Seeing that it  has been awhile since I have given an update, here's what's happening at Quantum PC Systems!

Now that AMD's new Ryzen series of processors have graced us with their presence for several months now, it's obvious AMD is extremely serious about upsetting the balance and leaving Intel in their wake!  With several code updates and enhancements issued since launch, Ryzen has become a force to be reckoned with!  The main focus of their success?  COST!!!  Plain and simple.  They can do nearly exactly what Intel can do at a fraction of the cost.  Why pay $1000 for an Intel chip when AMD can do it for $300?!

Piggy-backing on that success, AMD is hot on Intel's heels again with their new high end desktop chips, Threadripper!  With up to 16 cores and 32 threads of processing power for $999, Intel is scrambling!  It's obvious their new X299 chipset was not a solid match for their new Core i9 processors, otherwise they would have released them already to be competitive with Threadripper.  Intel was simply caught with their pants down on this one!

The Ryzen system I built a few months back has proven to be a true powerhouse in every sense of the term.  And I love it.  But I also just got my very own MacBook Pro, and that sent me on a path I thought I would never return to....Final Cut Pro.

I love Final Cut Pro, it's fast and efficient with much less hardware.  I have yet to use an NLE that works anywhere near as well as this.  This has forced me back into my "hackintosh" era that I have tried to leave but just can't give up!  So in light of this, I am making some changes to the Ryzen workstation to make it into a pro-level OSX machine for video editing as well as gaming in Windows 10.  As the project progresses, I will update with hardware specs and improvements.  Stay tuned!
